Ship Overview
Eas...e Island)

Registered in the Bahamas and built in the West of France, Wonder of the Seas took to the water for her maiden voyage on March 4, 2022, becoming the largest passenger ship at sea. The fifth ship in Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class splits time between the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, and features 18 decks, 2,867 staterooms, 22 restaurants, 11 bars, and eight neighborhoods. These distinct neighborhoods are uniquely designed spaces which cleverly compartmentalize the 1,188-foot long, 210-foot wide vessel, making it feel like a smaller, more intimate ship for its just under 7,000 guests (6.988 total maximum capacity) and 2,300 crew.Read More
While it summers in the calm Mediterranean waters, cruising back and forth between Barcelona and Rome, the Wonder of the Seas is most often found departing from Port Canaveral, Florida, located 42 miles due east from Orlando International Airport. From there, guests visit a myriad of Caribbean ports, from St. Maarten, St, Thomas, and St. Kitts, San Juan, and Nassau to Cozumel, Roatan, Labadee, Puerto Plata, and Falmouth. The majority of the Caribbean itineraries include a day on Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Thanks to its revolutionary design, Wonder of the Seas offers guests the choice of interior-facing balcony staterooms that provide unique and stellar views of either Central Park, with its trees and often live music in the evening, or the Boardwalk neighborhood with the carousel, ice cream parlor below and zip line above, in the location where windowless interior cabins would be on other cruise ships.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
What to expect on board
Staterooms & Cabins
Wonder of the Seas offers a full suite of cabin types, including multi-room and multi-level suites. Interior rooms, devoid of windows, are the most affordable way to cruise. These rooms are best for passengers who don’t mind using the room mainly for sleeping. Virtual Balcony staterooms also don’t contain windows, but an arty floor-to-ceiling ocean is a cool feature.
Ocean View and Balcony cabins may be more ideally suited for those who want to access fresh air from the comfort of their room. Balconies are furnished with chairs and a small table allowing cruisers to take their morning coffee al fresco, in their PJs if they like! A fleet of pricier suites offer passengers access to larger cabins, some of which even contain multiple floors. One, The Royal Loft Suite, has a grand piano. Suites also include specialized services like priority departure, concierge services, luxury bathroom amenities, and complimentary beverages and specialty dining.
There’s just one Ultimate Family Suite on board, and it’s a trip. An in-suite slide, air hockey table, and table tennis on the balcony are featured in brightly colored spaces.
All staterooms, regardless of class, include an HDTV, turndown service, and the ability to connect to the room next door for larger groups or families. There are no single occupancy staterooms on Wonder of the Seas.
Accessible staterooms on Wonder and all Royal Caribbean ships are designed especially for guests with mobility disabilities and other disabilities. Accessible staterooms range from 159 square feet to 298 square feet. The five-foot turning radius in sleeping areas and bathrooms is another notable feature as are carefully designed sitting areas. Wider entry points to the main cabin door, bathroom grab bars, roll-in showers, a lowered sink, vanity, and closet rods, raised toilet seats, lowered safes, and the absence of a doorsill for room entry round out the accessibility features. After booking an accessible stateroom, Royal Caribbean requires that special needs guests acknowledge their need for an accessible stateroom by completing an online form.
Food & Drink
Royal Caribbean’s newest specialty dining concept, The Mason Jar, made its debut on Wonder of the Seas. This southern-inspired restaurant and bar features live country music, brunch, and cozy decor. It, along with the majority of other restaurants (11 of 20) on board come with a surcharge for brunch, lunch and dinner.
Because the best and most diverse of Wonder’s dining, like Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar, Izumi, and Chops Grille, to name just a few, exist behind a kind of paywall, a foodie may feel limited during sailings of a week or more after eating the Main Dining Room’s buffet, the hot dog stand, and pizza parlortk these are different.
That said, the Windjammer buffet on Wonder of the Seas is massive and truly diverse with seafood, Indian, and other theme nights for dinner, Park Cafe in Central Park is delightful for quick bites at breakfast and lunch, and El Loco Fresh’s tasty Mexican eats enjoyed outside on deck 16 never disappoint. Room service is free for continental breakfast only. All other orders throughout the day and night will have an extra $7.95 delivery fee, per order.
Eight different, custom-crafted zero-proof cocktails and shakes are available at Social100’s The Patio, a teen-only outdoor bar, in a space that also features a private hot tub, giant chess set, and lounge chairs. For adults, there are a total of 11 bars, ranging from the futuristic fun of the Bionic Bar in the Promenade on deck 5, where your drink order is submitted electronically and then made by two oversized robot arms to the Rising Tide Bar which takes guests on a journey from the interior of deck 5 to the greenery of Central Park. Guests looking to mingle and enjoy a cocktail with a sea view will want to grab a seat at the Vue Bar for sunset. A pint of beer or a sangria perhaps can be enjoyed at Boleros or the Cask and Clipper, each of which features live music nightly. Note that unless a beverage package was purchased, drinks at the bars are not included in the cost of cruising on Wonder of the Seas.
Entertainment
There are two classes of entertainment on any cruise ship: passive and active. As far as the former goes, being an audience on Wonder of the Seas is genuinely a wonder to the senses. This is because all of the Oasis class ships feature a stunning, outdoor, open-air AquaTheater at the back of the Boardwalk neighborhood. On Wonder, guests are dazzled by the acrobatics, dancing, and diving of the 20 performers making up the all-female cast of Intense, the newest AquaTheater production. Other live entertainment includes live music performances in the Royal Theater, 365: The Seasons on Ice skating show in Studio B, jazz, big band, rock, R&B, and other genres of live music concerts in the Music Hall, stand-up comedy shows, a nightclub, karaoke, and a casino that will be open while sailing through international waters. For cruisers looking to actively looking to do and play on board, there’s the Flowrider surf simulator, zip lining high across the Boardwalk, a carrousel, miniature golf, rock climbing walls, water park with a trio of slides, open ice skating sessions, laser tag, The Ultimate Abyss dry slide, and more. Kids of all ages can entertain themselves with over 11 different ways to have fun on the Wonder Playscape, in the arcade, and the complimentary, age-appropriate kid’s clubs on board.
Spa & Fitness
An expansive 24-hour gym with sweeping sea views through large windows and an outdoor jogging track highlight the complimentary fitness options of guests, with personal training and additional workout sessions and classes available at an additional cost.
The Vitality Spa offers an array of treatments, from massages to facials, nail care to salon style services, all at an additional cost that, as with the spas on most all cruise ships, doesn’t provide great value for money when compared to similar treatments on land.
Key cruising tips
Health & Safety
Royal Caribbean requires that guests be vaccinated and tested before sailings of six nights or longer; unvaccinated guests will need to test before all sailings.
Specific requirements can be found at the Healthy Sail Center. This is the best place to find current requirements as health protocols are subject to change
Crew are vaccinated and boosted when eligible.
Dress Code
Week-long cruises usually include two formal nights (usually twice on a weeklong cruise), but otherwise casual dress is acceptable. While black tie is no longer expected, most guests do tend to get more dressed up in the evening when going to dinner in the Main Dining Room or at one of the ship’s more upscale restaurants.
Junior Cruisers
Wonder of the Sea has to be one of the most family friendly, all-ages ships at sea right now. By sheer volume, the amount of activities, camps, food, and fun available to junior cruisers will please them and their grown-ups who will be able to enjoy some adult time while their kids are cared for or enjoying themselves in the teen lounges, poolside, or surfing, zip lining, ice skating, etc. Babysitting services for infants are available for an extra charge.
Service
The Wonder of the Seas crew is top-notch across the board. A guest’s allergies and dietary concerns will be accommodated in restaurants, and passengers can expect all of their other needs to be addressed with a smile. Staterooms are tended to twice daily, towel animals appear in cabins at night, and everyone on board is dedicated to delivering outstanding service.
Tipping
Prepaid gratuities are standard now on cruises and Wonder of the Seas is no different. While no additional tipping is required or expected, many passengers will want to offer a little something more for their stateroom attendant, favorite bartender, and any other crew member who provides service above and beyond during the cruise.
