Streetcar Travel

The city's cute-as-a-button Seattle Streetcar trolleys are a fun way to explore the Downtown core. The South Lake Union Streetcar (SLUS) links South Lake Union and Downtown, with seven stops along the 1½-mile line and connections to light-rail and the Monorail. The 10-stop First Hill line connects Capitol Hill, First Hill, Yesler Terrace, Central Area, Chinatown-International District, and Pioneer Square. Streetcar frequencies vary; the South Lake Union line runs at 15-minute intervals from 9 am to 4 pm, while the First Hill line runs every 12 minutes. Both run more frequently during rush hour and less often in the late evening (the South Lake Union line stops service at 11 pm; First Hill runs until 1 am). A single fare costs $2.50 (senior/disabled $0.75, youth $1.25, children under five are free). Tickets can be purchased from a ticket vending machine (coins and credit cards are accepted) or deducted from an ORCA card. Streetcar-only unlimited day passes cost $4.50 ($2 senior/disabled, $3 youth).
