Seattle
The question in Seattle isn't "Do you exercise?" Rather, it's "How do you exercise?" Athleticism is a regular part of most people's lives here, whether it's an afternoon jog, a sunrise rowing session, a lunch-hour bike ride, or an evening game of Frisbee.
The Cascade Mountains, a 60-minute drive east, have trails and peaks for Alpinists of all skill levels. Snoqualmie Pass attracts downhill skiers and snowboarders, and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are excellent throughout the Cascades. To the west of the city is Puget Sound, where sailors, kayakers, and anglers practice their sports. Lake Union and Lake Washington also provide residents with plenty of boating, kayaking, fishing, and swimming opportunities. Farther west, the Olympic Mountains beckon adventure-seeking souls to their unspoiled wilderness.
Spectator sports are also appreciated here, from the UW Huskies (Go Dawgs!) to the Sonics, Seattle’s beloved pro soccer team.
