Silver Moon is the first ship in the Silversea fleet to debut the new S.A.L.T. program – a comprehensive culinary experience that incorporates new culinary shore excursions (like cheese making in Athens or visiting a winery and vineyards in Cyprus), onboard dining at new restaurant  S.A.L.T. Kitchen incorporating local food and drinks inspired by each day’s port of call, and S.A.L.T. Lab, a world-class kitchen for small group interactive cooking classes. S.A.L.T. stands for Sea And Land Taste and allows guests to more deeply experience their destination through gastronomy both on and off the ship.

Staterooms & Cabins

Cabins
Accessibility

The spacious all-suite accommodations on Silver Moon start at 335 square feet– larger than many city apartments. All suites have ocean views and the vast majority (from classic veranda suite and up) come with a private veranda – an ideal place to enjoy breakfast or unlimited champagne and Ars Italica caviar. Single occupancy cabins are available for a 25% supplement.

There’s a large walk-in wardrobe to hang all of your clothes, and all suites have marble bathrooms with separate bathtubs and showers. Unlimited WiFi is included and charging outlets are readily available.

There are four accessible suites available–three Vista Suites and one Silver Suite. The stateroom door automatically opens with the tap of a room key, and the massive master bath includes a wheel-in shower with a fold-down shower bench and handrails. Vanities, sinks and closet bars for hanging clothes are all lowered too, for easier reach. Butlers will happily remove furniture from the accessible veranda so better accommodate for a wheelchair too. Wheelchairs can be accommodated on some shore excursions.

Dining
Bars

With eight excellent restaurants on board, dining is a highlight on Silver Moon. S.A.L.T. Kitchen is a favorite for foodies, with a menu that changes daily to reflect specialties from the current port of call, like karavoloi giachnisti (stewed local snails) in Rhodes or lacquered kumquat duck in Nafplion.

Among other restaurants, Atlantide has classic steakhouse vibes and great surf and turf while La Terrazza is a daytime buffet and Italian restaurant at night. The only dining options that require an additional charge are sushi dinners at Kaiseki and fine dining French tasting menus at La Dame, which are $40 and $60 per person, respectively. You can also keep it casual with pizzas and burgers al fresco at The Grill. In addition, room service is available 24/7.

A robust selection of wines, spirits, and Pommery Champagne is complimentary throughout the ship, and there are additional premium wines, Champagnes and spirits available for an additional charge. Cocktail connoisseurs will be impressed by the knowledgeable bartenders executing classics at the Observation Library and the more innovative, locally-inspired drinks, including From the Flames, a Santorini-inspired sour featuring Tsipouro, an organic Greek eau de vie, and smoky mezcal that’s garnished with cucumber and a cube of feta are served with a flourish at S.A.L.T. Bar.

Entertainment

Editor Rating

The Show Lounge is the dedicated venue for port talks, lectures, and evening performances and live music. There’s a casino with table games and video slot machines, and Panorama Lounge on Deck 9 also offers live music or DJs nightly, but there aren’t as many options for onboard entertainment as you might find on larger ships. Silver Note is a favorite among regulars for late night jazz and blues, an intimate bar with a grand piano and dance floor.

Spa & Fitness

Editor Rating

Zagara Beauty Spa has nine treatment rooms, along with separate steam rooms and saunas for men and women. Massages here are outstanding, elevated by argan oil or detoxifying herbal poultices. Enjoy chocolate dipped strawberries and Champagne at the outdoor whirlpool after your treatment. The adjacent salon offers hair and nail services, including crucial pedicures for summer sandal season.

The fitness center is well-appointed with modern Technogym equipment and was never crowded during my sailing. There are daily complimentary group fitness classes, from yoga and Pilates to aerobics and circuit training. Personal training sessions with the onboard fitness instructor are available at an additional charge.

Key cruising tips

Health & Safety

Silversea updated its Covid-19 policies on September 5, 2022. Fully vaccinated and up-to-date travelers will not be required to show evidence of a PCR or Antigen test to embark. However, destinations with specific local health regulations, including but not limited to Australia, Bermuda, Canada and Greece, may require proof of a negative test prior to boarding. Unvaccinated guests must provide proof of a negative Covid test (PCR or Antigen) taken within 72 hours of embarkation.

Dress Code

Silversea encourages an evening dress code or dresses or pantsuits for women and jackets for men. Sailings of nine days or less usually include one formal night, where women wear evening gowns or cocktail dresses and men wear tuxedos or dark suits with a tie. Sailings of 10 days or longer usually include two or more formal nights. During the day, casual athleisure is the norm.

Junior Cruisers

Guests six months and older are allowed on Silversea cruises, but there are no special programs for children on board, nor are there babysitting services. Not too many kids cruise with Silversea, but mature teens will likely enjoy the experience.

Service

Silversea is known to be the only cruise line to include butler service for every suite category. Our butler, Marlon, was extraordinarily thoughtful and attentive, with a true heart for hospitality. With one of the highest crew-guest-ratios in the industry (1:1.5), service is consistently efficient and enthusiastic.

Tipping

Silversea is a true all-inclusive cruise, and no tipping is ever required or expected, except for spa services. Cruisers can contribute to the crew welfare fund at the cruise ship reception desk if they feel inclined to give more.
