North Cape Coastal Drive
North Cape Coastal Drive
Prince County’s 350-km (217-mile) North Cape Coastal Drive winds along the west coast of the Island, through very old, very small villages that still adhere to a traditional way of life. Fishermen plowing boats through choppy seas and farmers driving tractors through fields of rich, red soil are common sights. (The potatoes the latter grow prove Anne and oysters aren’t the Island’s only major exports!) You may be tempted to stay on the straight, flat Route 2 most of the way. But to see all that "Up West" has to offer take Route 14 to West Point and continue north along Northumberland Strait, returning along the Gulf of St. Lawrence via Route 12.
