Located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula next to the Straits of Malacca, the state of Malacca has a multicultural history so fascinating it's been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A popular trading center with China, India, and Indonesia, Malacca was at one time occupied by Arab, Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonizers, resulting in an abundance of historical sites and an interesting local cuisine.
