Laura Itzkowitz
Laura is a freelance writer and editor based in Rome with an MFA in creative writing and a decade of experience covering travel, arts and culture, lifestyle, design, food and wine. Her writing has appeared in Travel + Leisure, Architectural Digest, Surface Magazine, Brooklyn Magazine, T Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Vogue, GQ, Departures, AFAR, Town & Country, Condé Nast Traveler, Robb Report, Hemispheres, NYLON, and others.
During an eight-year stint living in New York, she co-wrote New York: Hidden Bars & Restaurants, an award-winning guide to New York City's speakeasy scene and contributed to Fodor's Brooklyn, which won silver place in the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism competition. She also contributed an essay about an urban design walk in Aarhus, Denmark to Epic Hikes of Europe, published by Lonely Planet in 2021. Since moving to Rome, she has updated the Rome and Rome Side Trips chapters of Fodor's Essential Italy (2022 edition) and a large part of Fodor's Rome (2023 edition).
