I am generally enjoying this trip to Cuba in spite of the power outages. That's really been the only issue. No shortages to speak of (other than sparkling water). I have eaten quite well and have no regrets about deciding to come to Cuba for this trip. That being said, I definitely won't be back this year. If I travel south again this year it will probably be Nicaragua from October-December. Also planning on doing something in May. Hopefully Northern Europe. Specifically Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden. We'll see.

Thanks for them there fotos. What a splendid looking malecon. How are the beaches 'round there?

I find with the exchange rates that we are able to get these days, that Cuba can easily be done on the cheap quite easily. $1 for a bear and a 5"er for a meal. I found the exchanges being offered for USD to be almost twice that of what was being offered for CDN.

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

No beaches in the town. Not sure where the closest one would be. I didn't bring any Canadian dollars with me. My guy offered me 330 pesos per American dollar the other day. Last I heard, the CDN was only worth around 200. I have been way too active lately. I played in a baseball game the other day and it was quite the experience. A makeshift baseball diamond combined with a bunch of drunks. Also have played soccer a few times. Those games were way more competitive. I was tired afterwards instead of drunk. My buddy signed me up for a pool tournament. Haven't been around a pool table since my university days. I played better than I anticipated, but still finished last. Cost me 100 pesos. Not much today. Made my rounds in the morning and did some shopping. Chilling out at the casa for a bit.

Wow - very active Simon. I would have just watched all 3 sporting events lol.
I’m sure if attempting soccer or baseball I would pull a hamstring in first 5 minutes.
Which reminds me that the last time I did that I was chasing 2 Cubans on bicycles who had just mugged Karina outside our Camaguey casa ripping her bag from her neck which had her expensive mobile phone inside.
Just as I reached the back wheel of one if the bikes my hamstring went and I fell onto the tarmac.
In retrospect it was probably a good thing I didn’t catch up. Who knows - a knife?
That was the end of my running days!
