Hotel Antigua Miraflores

Why We Like It

Traditional Peruvian aesthetics and a homey ambiance set this property apart from vast majority of Lima hotels, and it doesn't skimp on amenities. This is a full-service hotel with local flavor and reasonable rates.

Fodor's Expert Review

Housed in a refurbished Spanish-colonial-style mansion and annex on a quiet street, this friendly B&B combines distinctive Peruvian details with the amenities and service you'd expect from an international chain hotel. It is within walking distance from most of Miraflores' attractions and its varied public areas furnished with couches and armchairs offer inviting spots to enjoy a drink or rest between adventures.

Room

Three types of guest rooms range from smallish to spacious, but they all have hand-carved pine furniture and paintings of Andean scenes. Newer rooms in an annex overlook a central garden patio, with a large fountain that will lull you to sleep, whereas those in the original house have views of the neighborhood.

Tip A little more money can buy a much bigger room.

Bathroom

Modern tiled bathrooms lack Peruvian accents, but most have tubs and premium Señorial rooms have Jacuzzis.

Lobby

With its black-and-white checkered floor, crystal chandelier hanging from a two-story ceiling and eclectic collection of antiques and modern art, the lobby resembles a dowager's living room. Together with the adjacent lounge, it has plenty of comfy nooks to settle into.

Dining

The hotel's Kg Restaurant offers a selection of Peruvian classics and inventive fusion dishes, plus a few American standards for homesick taste buds. Tables on the back terrace are perfect for a summer lunch, whereas a café area in a corner with a woodstove is a good spot to sip a cappuccino when it's cold.

Drinking

At the far end of the lobby is a pisco bar that doubles as a café, with several tables that overlook the garden courtyard. They offer 20 types of macerado (pisco infused with fruit or spices).

You Should Know The bar has an ample tapas menu, making it a good option for a snack or light meal.
