Running between the Sorrentine peninsula and Salerno, Strada Statale 163 (State Highway 163, or the Amalfi Drive) can be reached from Naples via the A3 Autostrada to Castellammare di Stabia, then linked to Sorrento via Statale 145. When driving round-trip, many choose to go only in one direction on the seaside road, going the other way via the inland highway threading the mountains. If you drive, be prepared to pay exorbitant parking fees, and consider yourself lucky when you find a parking space. If you are feeling flush or are traveling with a group and can sharecosts, consider hiring a driver for airport transfers and mini-tours of the coast.
