Atchison
Atchison
Fifty miles northwest of Kansas City on Route 7, overlooking the Missouri River, is Atchison, the birthplace of famed aviator Amelia Earhart. Each July the town’s most famous resident is celebrated with a festival in her name. Atchison’s riverfront setting helped birth the town in the mid-1850s as a major trading center, and today its historic charm can be experienced through attractions, museums, and restaurants.
