Air Travel

Madrid's Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport is Europe's fifth-busiest. Terminal 4 (T4) handles flights from 22 carriers, including American Airlines, British Airways, and Iberia. All other U.S. airlines use Terminal 1 (T1).

Airport Transfers

Airport terminals are connected by bus service and also to Línea 8 of the metro, which reaches the city center in 30–45 minutes for around €5 (€1.50–€2 plus a €3 airport supplement). For €5 there are also convenient buses (Nos. 203 and 203 Exprés) to the Atocha train station (with stops on Calle de O'Donnell and Plaza de Cibeles) and to Avenida de América (note that bus drivers don't take bills greater than €20), where you can catch the metro or a taxi to your hotel. Taxis charge a flat fee of €30 from the airport to anywhere in the city center.
