Activities
There are many ways to enjoy the outdoors here, but a few activities stand out. You can keep your feet planted firmly on the ground and play golf (or miniature golf), or you can take to the water.
If golf is your passion, you already know that Gary Player, Annika Sorenstam, Nick Faldo, and the late Arnold Palmer—in fact, almost half the PGA tour—called Orlando their off-road home. The year-round golfing weather and the number of courses is attractive to both professional and amateur players. The Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill and several LPGA tourneys (the headquarters is in Daytona) come to Orlando every year. And, with more than 170 public and private courses, over a dozen golf academies, and dozens of mini golf putts, there's ample opportunity for you to play.
If water sports are your preference, Central Florida offers a wide variety. From paddleboarding, canoeing, or kayaking, to water skiing, Jet Skiing, scuba diving, or swimming, the spring-fed rivers and myriad lakes provide spots for cool fun all year round. The coasts, with white-sand beaches, are only an hour away.
