On any given weekend, 12 South's eponymous road might be filled with crowds for a street fair, cyclists, scooter-riders, and traffic. The strip of shops, restaurants, and coffee establishments is smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood that has quickly morphed from one of long-established retirees to young families in newly constructed dwellings. It’s a great place to people-watch and stroll. Locals come here for dining, college kids for hanging out or taking photos in front of murals. The road is also one of several parallel streets forming a major commuter corridor. Shopping at some of the celebrity-owned and -curated shops here is another main draw to 12 South. Reese Witherspoon (Draper James) and Holly Williams (White’s Mercantile) have shops here, as do designers and stylists who regularly work with singers and other performers (HERO and Judith Bright, for example). The compact, easily walkable 12 South neighborhood is also a popular place for weekend brunches at which you could easily find yourself seated beside an entertainment luminary.
